Grant Thomson

Grant Thomson is a Scottish actor who is perhaps most well known for his roles in Still Game for BBC Scotland, bear hugging David Beckham in the Sky Sports advert for the 2016/17 Premier League football season, and appearing in Made of Honor for Columbia Pictures.

Early life and education

Born in Falkirk, Grant was raised in the village of Brightons which is 3 miles east of the town. Grant has a diverse background in television, theatre and film. Upon leaving Graeme High School, he enrolled on the HND Acting and Performance course at Falkirk College of Further and Higher Education. While at college the 6'8" 'actor would spend most of his evenings and weekends travelling to Glasgow to rehearse and perform in musicals with The Pantheon Club and the Apollo Players at the King's Theatre, Glasgow.

Career

In 2005 Grant starred in a series of comedy sketches directed by Justin Molotnikov for The Saturday Show (BBC TV series) which was a Saturday morning children's TV programme.

In 2005 Grant was also seen clambering out of a Mini in an advert for ASDA Car Finance.

In 2006 Grant was seen breaking the lift of Osprey Heights in the Still Game Hogmanay special for BBC Scotland playing the part of Charlie.

In 2007 Grant reprised the role of Charlie in the Still Game episode Hot Seat.

In 2007 Grant starred alongside Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Dempsey in the romantic comedy Made of Honor for Columbia Pictures.

In 2013 Grant appeared in the final of Comic Relief Does Glee Club.

In 2014 Grant appeared in episode 4 of Lovesick which was shown on Channel 4 and made by Clerkenwell Films.

In 2016 Grant was seen bear hugging David Beckham in the Sky Sports advert for the 2016/17 Premier League football season.

For Falkirk's Sake

In 2014 Grant was one of the founder members and organisers of For Falkirk's Sake, the towns first artist led festival which attracted names including Alan Bissett and Janet Paisley as well as The National Jazz Trio of Scotland featuring the legendary Bill Wells.

Personal life

Grant married his wife Christine in Aberdeen in March 2011.
