Gods and Generals is a historical first-person shooter video game developed by Anivision Value and published by Activision. Based on the film of the same name, players will be thrown into the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War, an event so earth-shattering, it divided a nation, split families and altered the very course of North American history. Players will assume the role of a Civil War soldier, choosing either to side with the Union or the Confederacy, and charge alongside thousands of men into glorious battle.[2] As the action and drama quickly unfolds, players will be tasked with various missions such as raids and reconnaissance, to leading a full army company. Epic battles ranging from the Second Battle of Bull Run, the battle of Chancellorsville to the battle of Fredericksburg, players will be equipped with historically-accurate muskets, revolvers, sabers and other instruments of war. This nine-part campaign game uses various scenes from the aforementioned film.[3]

Gods and Generals was released on March 1, 2003 as a PC Windows exclusive,[1] and was critically panned by the media and gaming community.
