Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire (銀河婦警伝説サファイア Ginga Fukei Densetsu Safaia, Galaxy Policewoman Legend Sapphire) is a 1995 shoot 'em up video game released by Hudson Soft for the PC Engine console (with the Arcade CD-ROM add-on) in Japan only. It was ported to the PlayStation Portable as part of the Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Collection compilation in 2008.

Reception

Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire is renowned as one of the most technically impressive titles for that system, as well as one of the rarest. As such, it may reach very high prices on online auctions, often well over $800 for a mint copy. Counterfeit copies also appear in auctions, but it is possible to distinguish them from the legitimate product.

Reviewing Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Collection, Hardcore Gamer described Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire as "one of the PC Engine's greatest gems" as well as "one of the best shooters ever made," as its "style and action make up for any of its shortcomings and this PSP port is a top notch example of a quality game withstanding the test of time. (...) Sapphire's art direction certainly compensates for any shortcomings in its mechanics, and at about one-tenth of the cost of the PC Engine version, this is a must own title for any shmup aficionado."[2]
