Gil Shefler is an Israeli journalist covering the Jewish world for The Jerusalem Post. His writing has appeared in Haaretz, JTA, The Forward, Yedioth Ahronoth, Maariv and The Wall Street Journal.[1]

In June 2012, Shefler traveled to Greece on assignment to write about the rise in popularity of Golden Dawn, a far right group. During his stay in Athens, he was attacked by a group of masked men while trying to document them beating illegal migrants.[2] Shefler was taken to hospital where he was treated for his wounds and released later the same day. The story was picked up by international media outlets.[3]
