Get Out is an upcoming 2017 American horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Catherine Keener, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Lil Rel Howery, Erika Alexander and Keith Stanfield. The film is scheduled to be released on February 24, 2017, by Universal Pictures.[1] The film has been described by writer and director Jordan Peele as "a horror movie, but it’s a satirical premise."[2]

Plot

A young African-American visits his Caucasian girlfriend's family estate where he learns that many of its residents, who are black, have gone missing, and he soon learns the horrible truth when another frantic African-American warns him to "get out". He soon learns this is easier said than done.

In a 2015 interview, Peele revealed that the film was in-part conceptually inspired by The Stepford Wives (1975). "It’s a horror movie, but it’s a satirical premise," he said.[3]

Casting and filming

On September 21, 2015, it was announced that Jordan Peele would direct the horror film Get Out, based on his own script.[4] Jason Blum would produce the film through Blumhouse Productions along with Sean McKittrick and Edward H. Hamm Jr. through QC Entertainment.[4] On November 4, 2015, Allison Williams joined the film to play the leading female role.[5] On November 18, 2015, Daniel Kaluuya was added to the film in the leading male role.[6] On December 3, 2015, Catherine Keener signed on to play a significant role in the film.[7] On December 16, 2015, Caleb Landry Jones joined the film's cast.[8] On December 17, 2015, Lil Rel Howery also joined the film.[9] On January 6, 2016, Bradley Whitford joined the film as co-lead.[10] During the mid-February 2016, Betty Gabriel and Keith Stanfield also joined the film's cast.[11][12]

Principal photography on the film began on February 16, 2016.[13]
