Geoffrey Raisman

Professor Geoffrey (Geoff) Raisman FRS (born 28 June 1939) is a British neuroscientist.[1]


Personal life

He was born in Leeds and now resides in London. His father was a Jewish man who was originally from Lithuania. Raisman is not religious.[2] He attended Roundhay Grammar School and Pembroke College, Oxford.[3]

Career

He is chair of neural regeneration at University College London's Institute of Neurology.[4][5] In 2014, his team claimed to have regrown nerve cells where they had been severed, restoring the damaged spinal cord of the Polish paraplegic Darek Fidyka.[6]
