Geetha Madhuri Sonti is an Indian playback singer and dubbing artist who works primarily in Tollywood.[1] She became famous with the song "ninne ninne" from the movie Nachavule for which she won Nandi Award as the best female playback singer. She also won two Filmfare awards. She holds the record of winning highest number of Filmfare awards for Telugu as best female playback singer. She has sung in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. She has recorded more than 550 songs for various films and albums. She has participated in an MAA TV show called Super Singer. In film industry Geetha called as Shreya Ghosal of South. She has worked under the supervision of music directors like Ilayaraja, Koti, M.M. Keeravani, , Raj, Vandematharam Srinivas, Mani Sharma, Ramana Gogula, S.A. Raj Kumar, Sandeep Choutha, Micky-J-Mayer, Devisri Prasad, R.P. Patnaik, Chakri, Nihal, Kalyani Malik, Anup, Sunil Kashyap, Saluri Vasu Rao, Vasanth, Ravi Sankar, Saketha Sairam,Sai karthik, Shekhar Chandra,Jessigift, S.S. Thaman etc.,

Early life

Geetha was born to Prabhakar and Lakshmi. Her father Prabhakar is an SBH official and Madhuri is their only daughter. They moved from Godavari region to Hyderabad when she was very young. She completed her schooling from Loyola, Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad. Since childhood, she kept practicing singing. Her parents arranged training in classical and light music, initially under Smt. Kocharlakota Padmavati Garu, then under Ramachari Garu in little musicians academy. She was the semi finalist in SYE singers challenge(Musical show) which was conducted by the ETV Telugu channel.

Geetha made her debut as playback singer with Kulasekhar's film Premalekha Rasa.[2]

Personal life

Geetha married actor Ananda Krishna Nandu on 9 February 2014 at Nagole. Nandu, who grew to fame as Ajith in 100% Love (2011 film), shared screen space with Madhuri in a short film 'Adithi'.[3][4]
