In 2015, Heffernan and frequent photography partner Harun Mehmedinovic collaborated on SKYGLOW,[16] a crowdfunded book and Blu Ray to tackle the rising danger and damage of urban light pollution. The fundraising campaign generated significant publicity[17] and ended on May 9, 2015 as the fourth most successful Kickstarter campaign ever in the Photobooks category.[18] The project was featured on Season 6 of the Discovery Science show Outrageous Acts of Science.[19] SKYGLOW is expected to release in late 2016.
