School building

Established during the academic year 1963/64, the French International School "Victor Segalen" of Hong Kong (FIS) was the first international school in Hong Kong. It is the only accredited French school in HK (linked by an agreement with the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE). Started as a small school with only 35 students, FIS has grown to be one of the most renowned international schools in Asia. It has over 2,500 students in four different campuses. Since September 2014, FIS expanded its operations to a new campus in Hung Hom, Hong Kong.

The school’s mission is to provide, together with families, a nurturing, culturally diverse community that inspires young people to realize their true potential as confident, independent learners and responsible global citizens with moral values and integrity. FIS offers two Streams, the French and the International. The French stream follows the French National Education curriculum which leads to the “diplôme national du brevet” and the French “Baccalauréat”. The “Option Internationale du Baccalauréat” (OIB), which offers advanced level study in English, is also available. The International stream is based on the UK curriculum and leads to IGCSE (University of Cambridge International Examinations) in Form 5 and the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Form 6. FIS was the first international school in Hong Kong to offer an International Baccalaureate programme in 1988.

FIS graduates have been admitted to top universities around the world (UK, France, Canada, USA, HK) such as King’s College London, The Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, McGill University, Bath University, Warwick University, University of British Columbia and French schools such as Sciences Po Paris, Classes Préparatoires, Atelier de Sèvres, and ESTACA.
