Franklin Towers

Franklin Towers is a 16-story high-rise building located in Portland, Maine, at the corner of Franklin Street and Cumberland Avenue. At 175 feet (53 m),[1] it is the tallest building in the state of Maine[A], making Maine 47th out of the 50 states in terms of tallest building per state. Construction was completed in 1969, and its primary use is residential.[2]

It affords residency, administered by the Portland Housing Authority (PHA), to people who meet criteria such as retirement age, disability, and limited income. Through PHA, residents pay up to 30% of their adjusted income for rent.[3]

Notes

A.^ St. Patrick's Church in Lewiston, Maine, at 220 feet to the top of its taller spire, is a taller structure, but not inhabited at the higher levels, and therefore does not fit the criteria for tallest buildings.[4]
