"Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" is a song by the Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala, released in October 2012. The single features artwork from Australian artist Leif Podhajsky, who also created the artwork for Innerspeaker.

Music video

The music video was directed by Joe Pelling and Becky Sloan,[2][3] best known as creators of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared web series. The music video features psychedelic art.

Usage in media

"Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" was used in the promotion of Via X's Chilean TV program Moov.[4]

The Irish sports podcast Second Captains used the song as the theme music for its 2014 FIFA World Cup coverage.

Plagiarism claim

In 2014, Tame Impala were accused of plagiarizing Pablo Ruiz's song "Océano" for "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards", though the accusers claimed that this was merely a joke and downplayed any legitimate accusations of plagiarism.[5] Despite this, Ruiz responded by saying he would consult his lawyers about possible legal action.[5]
