Fauda (فوضى; means Chaos in Arabic) is an Israeli political thriller television series.

The series will be distributed by the online streaming service Netflix, and premiered on December 2, 2016.[1]

History

Fauda was developed by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff based on their experiences doing military service in the IDF's Duvdevan special unit (Also known as unit 217). The series premiered on February 15, 2015. It tells the story of Doron, a commander in the Mista'arvim unit, and his team as they try to catch a Hamas arch-terrorist known as "The Panther".

The first season of the series was filmed in Kafr Qasim, during Operation Protective Edge.

Fauda has been praised for its realism, use of Arabic and empathetic portrayal of the Hamas characters.

In June 2016, the show won six Ophir Awards, including Best Drama Series, at the Israeli Academy Awards.[2]
