"Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave)" is a song by the Swedish rock duo Roxette. It was released as the second single from their third studio album, Joyride (1991). In July 1991, the song spent a week at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (second only to Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You") in the United States. It was the last Top 10 single for Roxette in this country, who had a remarkable run over a three-year period, with four Number One singles as well as two No.2 singles; Dangerous, and Fading Like A Flower.

Music video

The music video was shot mostly in Gamla stan, Stockholm, Sweden and features images of Stockholm City Hall. It was written in 1989 ("in Canada" according to Gessle), but eventually released in 1991.

Critical Reception

The song received a positive review from Bryan Buss of AllMusic. He commented "Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave)," an insistent rock ballad, takes things down a notch.[1]
