Fédération Cynologique Internationale Groups
The Fédération Cynologique Internationale has a 10 Group System, which is in use in all of its 86 member countries. All of these groups have breeds with a common original purpose in.
10 Group System
The FCI's 10 Group System is unique to the FCI. They all contain dogs that were bred for a specific purpose; more specific than other Kennel Clubs. These groups are a lot more broken down than other English-speaking Kennel Clubs. This is the hierarchy:

- Pinschers and Schnauzers, Molossoids and Swiss Mountain Dogs

- Dachshunds
- Spitz and Primitive Types

- Retrievers, Flushing Dogs and Water Dogs
- Companion and Toy Dogs
- Sighthounds
