Bleeker's jumping spider, is a species of spider of the genus Euryattus. It is found from Sri Lanka to Queensland.[1]

Description

Male is smaller than female, where generally about 6mm in total length, whereas female is 12mm.[2] Adult mature spider has flat fronted smooth dark black chelicerae and more black or orange opisthosoma. Female has lesser coloration than male, but with prominent orange markings on opisthosoma. Juvenile males are often more orange-brown than adults. Both male and female possess whitish scaly band around the rear part of the carapace and the leading edge of the abdomen.[3]

Ecology

They do not form a web to capture prey.[2] Bleeker's jumping spider build a flat, densely woven egg sac and place it nearby the nest and in rolled up leaves. Their common habitats include dense shrubs and complex vines around coastal areas or near water courses.[3]

Toxicity

There is no records of serious damages to humans with the bite. But may cause local pain and inflammation sometimes.[2]
