The Esteban Solar Car Team is a student-run team from the École Polytechnique de Montréal, the affiliated engineering school of the University of Montreal.

The organization aims to design, build and run sun-powered electric vehicles, and had produced six prototypes as of 2012. Another major purpose of the project is to demonstrate the feasibility of electric vehicles and to promote the use of renewable energies.

Establishment

Esteban was founded in 1998.

Esteban V

Esteban V was designed in 2008 and raced in the World Solar Challenge 2009.

Esteban VI

Construction of Esteban VI started during the summer of 2011. In July 2012, Esteban VI became the first Esteban prototype to race in the Formula Sun Grand Prix and to qualify in the American Solar Challenge.[1]

Upon completion of the American Solar Challenge 2012, Esteban received the Teamwork Award and the Array Power Award[2] in a tie with the winning team, the University of Michigan.
