Ernest Prakasa (born January 29, 1982), is an Indonesian stand-up comedy, comedian, writer, actor and presenter of Chinese descent.[1] Prakasa is the third place winner of Stand Up Comedy Indonesia of season 1.

Career

Before his career as a comedian, Prakasa started as a singer and was signed by two labels, Universal Music Indonesia and Sony Music Indonesia. Prakasa competed in Kompas TV's stand-up comedy competition Stand Up Comedy Indonesia season 1 and finished third, behind Ryan Adriandhy and Insan Nur Akbar.

After the competition, Prakasa decided to pursue stand-up comedy and established Stand Up Indo with Raditya Dika, Isman H. Suryaman and Pandji Pragiwaksono. He was the leader of the group until 2013.

In 2012, Prakasa undertook his first stand-up comedy tour of 11 Indonesian cities, titled Merem Melek Tour. A day before Indonesian Chinese New Year, Prakasa also held a special single comedy show with the theme of the ethnic Chinese in Indonesia, titled Ernest Initiatives & The Oriental Bandits in the Jakarta Arts Building on February 9, 2013.

Prakasa has written some comedy books including: Dari Merem ke Melek: Catatan Seorang Komedian and Ngenest - Ngetawain Hidup Ala Ernest of part 1 to 3. In addition, Prakasa wrote and directed the film titled Ngenest the Movie[2] for which he won Best Screenwriter Trophy Award at the 2016 Indonesian Box Office Movie Awards.[3]

Personal life

Prakasa is a Christian. He married Meira Anastasia in 2008 and they have two children.
