Sergeant Edward Edwin Dodds (1845 to January 12, 1901) was a Canadian soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Dodds received the United States' highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action at Ashbys Gap in Virginia on 19 July 1864. He was honored with the award on 11 June 1896.[1][2]

Dodds was born in Port Hope, Ontario [3] in 1845. He joined the US Army from Rochester, New York in July 1863, and was discharged for disability in July 1865. [4] He died on 12 January 1901 and his remains are interred at the Canton Cemetery in Canton, Ontario, Canada.

Medal of Honor citation

At great personal risk rescued his wounded captain and carried him from the field to a place of safety.[1][2]
