Eddie Quigley

Edward "Eddie" Quigley (13 July 1921 – 18 April 1997) was an English football player and manager.

He was born in Bury, Lancashire,[1] the son of Edward and Martha (née Rowley) Quigley.

He scored 179 goals from 337 appearances in the Football League playing as a centre-forward for Bury, Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers in the post World War II era.[2] He was transferred from Sheffield Wednesday to Preston for a fee of £26,500, which was at the time a British transfer record.[1] He managed Blackburn Rovers and Stockport County.

He died in Blackpool in 1997 at the age of 75.[1]
