Dzanani is a town and also the name of a region in the former Venda, now part of Limpopo province in South Africa. Dzanani was named after MuDzanani, which is one of the main surnames in Venda. The language predominantly spoken is TshiVenda, which is one of the 11 official South African languages. It is a warm place that can also get very hot in summer and cold in winter.

Dzanani is 40 km from the town of Thohoyandou, 50 km from Makhado, 420 km from Pretoria and about 690 km from Harare in Zimbabwe. It is 150 km from Polokwane International Airport and about 460 from O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. There is a good tarred road leading to Dzanani and other nearby areas.

Dzanani used to be one of the 4 districts in the former Republic of Venda, along with Vuwani, Mutale and Thohoyandou. Dzanani has been the home of VhaVenda kings for centuries. Visit Dzanani for the very interesting Venda traditional songs and dances. There are many interesting places to visit while in Dzanani. The Dzata ruins is declared a national monument of South Africa. Others places are Lake Fundudzi; Phiphidi Waterfalls; the breathing stone; the Kruger National Park; and most importantly, the Mapungubwe National Park and heritage site.

Dzanani provide fair shopping. There are many grocery stores and fast food outlets and fruits are in abundance, which makes it economically to buy and consume.

There are banking facilities and ATMs of all four major banking groups.

Dzanani has a big Post Office, the Mphephu Police Station, Dzanani Magistrate Court and the regional Municipality offices. There are also furniture shops, car parts shops, medical facilities, and other necessary facilities.

Schools and entertainment

There are several primary schools, secondary schools and even crèches. Makhado Multi Purpose College and Mavhoi Technical College offer different courses for students from all over the province. There is also a sports stadium and community hall.
