Duke Kunshan University is a university organized as a collaboration between Duke University (located in Durham, North Carolina, United States), Wuhan University (Wuhan, Hubei, China), and the city of Kunshan, China.[1] The university has a 200-acre campus in Kunshan. On September 17, 2013, the Chinese Ministry of Education granted final approval.[2] First classes started on August 25, 2014. Duke Kunshan University currently offers an Undergraduate Global Learning Semester program and Master's programs in Medical Physics, Global Health, Environmental Policy and Management Studies.[3]

The first chancellor of the new university is Liu Jingnan, formerly president of Wuhan University. Mary Brown Bullock, formerly president of Agnes Scott College, is the first executive vice chancellor.[4]

Duke first attempted to collaborate with Shanghai Jiao Tong University to build its Kunshan campus in 2010, but the Chinese university withdrew before reaching an agreement.[5][6]

Academic Programs

Duke Kunshan University currently offers an Undergraduate Global Learning Semester program and Master's programs in Medical Physics, Global Health, Environmental Policy and Management Studies. Duke Kunshan University's graduate programs award Duke degrees.
