Dubai Parks and Resorts

Lapita hotel

Dubai Parks and Resorts is an upcoming integrated leisure and theme park destination located in Dubai, an emirate in the UAE. Constituting over 25 million square ft. of land.,[1] Dubai Parks and Resorts will consist of three theme parks and one water park: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, LEGOLAND Dubai and LEGOLAND Water Park. The destination will also feature Riverland Dubai – an entrance plaza that will link the various parks and serve as a retail and dining area for both park visitors and UAE residents. A Polynesian themed family hotel, Lapita Autograph Collection Hotels will also open on the site.[2]

The destination is scheduled to officially open in October 2016.[3] This would be the first time when three theme parks; a water park, a hotel and a retail dining area will open on the same day.

It is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai’s main traffic artery, and close to the Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport and equidistant between Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport

The resort will feature more than 100 rides and attractions[4]

Development history

The project was announced in 2012 and construction started in 2014.[5] Major milestones such as securing government approvals, IP agreements, and appointing operators have already been achieved.

In 2015, Dubai Parks and Resorts partnered and signed agreements with three entertainment companies; Wizcraft,[6] Lionsgate [7] and Merlin,[8] and finalised a strategic deal with Picsolve,[9] image solutions providers

Infrastructure has cumulative spending at AED 4.8 billion and over 11,000 workers and 34 contractors on site. At the end of 2015, 86% of the resort-wide roads and underground utilities and almost all of the substation and district cooling elements were complete.[10] To date, Riverland has leased over 50% of its retail space [11] and thousands of plant species have arrived for the in-park nursery,[12] setting it on track to open in October 2016.
