Doris Schröder-Köpf (born 5 August 1963) is a German journalist and the fourth wife of the former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder. She has worked for Bild and Focus, among the others.

Personal life

Köpf accompanied her then partner Sven Kuntze to New York City in 1990. They have a daughter named Klara (born 1991 in New York City) together, but separated very soon after her birth and Köpf moved back to Bavaria with her daughter.

In 1997 Köpf married then Minister-President of Lower Saxony, Gerhard Schröder. In 2004 the couple adopted a 3-year-old girl, Viktoria from Saint Petersburg as well as a boy named Gregor in 2006.

Political Career

Köpf currently holds the position of Director of Migration and Immigration issues for the State of Lower Saxony. Although this is an official state position, Köpf fulfils her duties in a voluntary role.
