Dodi Papase is a town in the Volta Region of Ghana. The town is known for the Dodi Papase Secondary School.[1][2] The school is a second cycle institution.[3]
Dodi Papase is located in the Kadjebi District of the Volta Region of Ghana. The community is constituted of Christians, Muslims and traditionalists. Vegetation is rich and the inhabitants are predominantly cocoa farmers.
The Saint Mary Theresa Hospital[4] in Kadjebi District can also be found in the Papase township, located along the Papase-Amanfrom Road. The hospital provides care in the following: Out Patient Department (OPD), Medical Laboratory, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Paediatrics, Medical Surgery, Eye Clinic and a Dental Clinic.[5] On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the hospital area market (referred to as 'Dzimpapa' market) becomes a major business point for the people in the locality. Food items such as plantain and cassava are the most sold items. Fruits such as banana, coconuts and oranges are also in abundance.
There are about 4 public basic schools in the town and only one private basic school. The Dodi Papase Senior High Technical school is the only second cycle institution in Dodi Papase and houses students from various parts of the country. Its students have performed strongly in the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination .
Currently, two telecommunication networks are in operation in the town: MTN and Vodafone-Ghana. The road network from Kadjebi to Papase is well-functioning except the stretch from Ahamansu Junction to Papase township.
The Wawa River serves as a source of recreation for the people of Papase. Occasionally, the youth organize recreational activities at the banks of the river banks (locally referred to as "Wawa Beach"). Tourist attractions include the Nyonku No. 1 Stone Pillar, which is 3 km North-East of Dodi-Papase, and the Bakpa Stone cave, which is about 6.5 km West of Papase.[6]
