The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (CEE), one of 12 departments within the University of Illinois College of Engineering, has been in existence for more than 140 years, since the year the University was founded.

As of April 2012, U.S. News and World Report ranked the program the second-best US school for undergraduate civil engineering degrees and a tie for the best graduate civil engineering degree.[2] The program was also ranked as the third-best US school for a graduate degree in environmental engineering.[3]
