Deli River (Indonesian: Sungai Deli) is located in Sumatra and courses through Medan before connecting to the port city of Belawan. It is one of the eight rivers in Medan. in Deli Sultanate, this river was the artery of trade to other areas.

Today, the forest area in the headwaters of the Deli is 3,655 hectares, or 7.59 percent of 48 162 hectares of Deli watershed. In fact, with an area of 48 162 hectares, length of 71.91 kilometers (km), and a width of 5.58 km, Deli watershed should have at least 140 hectares, or 30 percent of the watershed.

Now, the waste polluting the river. Deli River pollution, 70 percent of them caused by solid and liquid waste. Solid domestic waste or waste generated in the city of Medan is 1,235 tons a day.
