Delhi Gate(19th Century)

The Delhi Gate (Urdu: دہلی دروازہ) is located within Walled City of Lahore in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.The Delhi Gate was built during the Mughal period and is one of thirteen gates of the Inner City. The surrounding area of gate includes many buildings of historical significance including the magnificent Wazir Khan Mosque, Shahi Hammam, other ancient havelis and markets. Recently this area has gained the attention of Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP), who have started a project for renovating the fading beauty of Mughal-era architecture. The renovation project is funded by the government of Norway. It includes conservation of the 85 meter long north façade of the 17th century Wazir Khan Mosque, as well as the Shahi Hammam - the 17th century public bathhouse in Delhi gate. The Shahi Hammam was completed in June 2015 and is now managed as a museum by the Walled City of Lahore Authority.
