David Thompson Secondary School is a public secondary school located in the Victoria-Fraserview neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It had opened in 1958.

It is one of the top Vancouver public high schools on the Fraser Institute rankings. The school served as a filming location for various films in the Twilight Saga.[2]

The school offers district programs such as the Odyssey mini school, GOLD, and BEST and currently offers the most Advanced Placement courses in the Vancouver School Board.

History

David Thompson Secondary School opened in 1958. During the first year, 1500 students were enrolled and the first graduating class was in 1964. Gradually, the number increased until the mid-seventies where the average annual population was in excess of two thousand.In 1967 and 1968 the Sr Boys basketball teams were the lower mainland champions. Both years they made it to the provincial championship game finishing second in all of British Columbia.

DT Business Club

In 2015, the school's business club was founded by Steven Chen to promote business interests and develop business acumen in its members. It also gives the opportunity for students to gain achievement and recognition with their business interests. Due to club's efforts, David Thompson is one of the first schools in British Columbia to participate in the American program, DECA.[3] Activities are run internally and externally. DT Business Club holds weekly meeting which are run by the executive team. The current 2016-17 team consists grade 12 students Jackie Yu, Anson Chan, Allan Xu, and Brian Du. The club is sponsored by David Thompson's staff.

Filming at Thompson

In the spring of 2009, the second installment to The Twilight Saga, New Moon, was filmed at David Thompson. David Thompson was used as the set for Forks High School. In the summer of 2009, the third installment of The Twilight Saga film series, Eclipse, was also filmed at David Thompson.
