David Charles Evans, Lord Evans of Watford (born 1942)[1] is a publisher, entrepreneur and philanthropist who has spent the last 55 years of his career in print and publishing. He also holds a number of chairmanships, spanning across printing, business consultancy, charity and healthcare. He sits in the House of Lords as a Labour peer.
Early life
Lord Evans attended Watford College of Technology[2] and was awarded the Edward Hunter Gold Medal as best student, as well as being awarded Full Technologist qualifications.
Career
Following the sale of Centurion Press, Lord Evans founded Senate Publishing Ltd[3] with his business partner of 21 years, Caroline Minshell. Senate Publishing produces publishing and communication platforms for governments, major corporates and leading financial institutions.
Lord Evans was a Trustee of the Royal Air Force Museum[4] and is a Director of the Royal Air Force Museum Trading Company.[5] He also serves as chairman of the Institute of Collaborative Working.[6]
He currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Chairman of Arcanum Global,[7] an intelligence company.
Other work
In addition to his business successes, Lord Evans is a passionate advocate and supporter of cancer research, becoming joint President of the ‘Pioneers for Prostate Cancer UK’[8] and supporting numerous other cancer research foundations.
