Danny Mac (born Danny Mac Greene on 26 February 1988) is an English actor best known for playing Mark "Dodger" Savage in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2011 to 2015.
Personal life
Mac was born in Bromley, Greater London, but then grew up in the seaside town of Bognor Regis.[2] He wanted to act from a young age, and enjoyed watching Grease, Michael Jackson and James Bond. He trained at the Arts Educational Schools in London and graduated in 2009 with a BA Hons degree.[2]
He is a fan of Chelsea F.C. and used to live with former Hollyoaks co-star James Atherton, who played Will Savage.[1]
Mac has been in a relationship with fellow Hollyoaks actress Carley Stenson since 2011. In March 2016, the couple announced they were engaged.[2]
Career
He was Gavroche in the musical Les Miserables for a ten-week run in Southampton in 1998, and again in the West End in 1999.[2]
He returned to the West End a decade later in the musical Wicked from May 2009, where he stayed for 21 months and was an understudy for the role of Boq. He left to join Hollyoaks in February 2011, playing the role of Mark "Dodger" Savage until 2015.[2]
In 2011, Mac and his Hollyoaks co-stars, Stephanie Davis (Sinead O'Connor), Andrew Moss (Rhys Ashworth) and Abi Phillips (Liberty Savage) performed "Forget You" by CeeLo Green for Children in Need.
In July 2013, Mac appeared on the ITV game show All Star Family Fortunes.
Mac is appearing as a contestant on the fourteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancing partner Oti Mabuse.[2] In week 9, after dancing a Charleston, he became the first contestant to both receive a score of ten from Craig Revel Horwood and to score a perfect 40. The next week, Mac became the first celebrity in the show's history to score a perfect 40 for a Samba.[3] This was also the earliest double 40 in the show's history.
