Daniel Radcliffe (entrepreneur)

Daniel John Radcliffe (born 28 January 1984) is a New Zealand entrepreneur from Taranaki. He is the founder and current Executive Director of the volunteer travel company International Volunteer HQ Limited (IVHQ).

In 2014, Radcliffe was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year at the New Zealand edition of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards,[1] in recognition for the success of International Volunteer HQ. He represented New Zealand at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in June 2015 where he was also inducted into the World Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.[2][3]

Radcliffe has expanded into farming and multiple other businesses.

Early life

Radcliffe grew up on a farm operated by his family in the rural community in Uruti, Northern Taranaki. He attended Uruti School and was a boarding student at New Plymouth Boys' High School. He graduated from the University of Otago in 2006 with Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business degrees.[4]

International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ)

Having gained a place in the graduate employment program of a New Zealand corporation, Radcliffe quit after three days and returned to his family’s farm.[5] He travelled extensively and volunteered on a teaching program in rural Kenya for three months during 2006[6] and upon returning home to New Zealand Radcliffe founded International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).[7]

IVHQ's product offering is volunteer travel,[8] and the business has grown quickly since Radcliffe started it in 2007. IVHQ now operates in more than 30 countries and has placed more than 52,000 volunteers abroad.[9] The business employs about 20 people in New Plymouth and over 300 people work under the IVHQ brand globally.[10]
