Damaris Lewis (born October 10, 1990) is an American model born to West Indian parents from the island of St. Kitts that appeared in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues'[1]'. Lewis was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She studied with a conservatory-style arts concentration in dance at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.[2]

Lewis was discovered while performing with her childhood dance company, Restoration Dance Theater at Chelsea Piers. She decided to wait until her second year of high school before signing a contract with Elite Model Management.[3][4]

Lewis has appeared in campaigns for Black/Up, Clarins, MAC Cosmetics, L'Oréal, and Yves Saint Laurent (brand) to name a few. She has done editorial shoots for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2009, 2010, 2011; Essence (magazine), French Marie Claire, Self (magazine), Cosmopolitan (magazine), GQ, and the list goes on.

Taking a step into entertainment arenas, Lewis appeared briefly in the 2011 movie Limitless, dancing in a club scene with Bradley Cooper.[5]

Lewis was selected by Nick Jonas and Modelinia to do a 3-day, feature style interview video set. This gave her recognition from a wider audience and sparked an interest in interviewing and hosting.[6]

Lewis hosted a special presentation for The Africa Channel entitled, Prince! Behind The Symbol: Music Special, during his Welcome 2 America - 21 Night Stand at The Los Angeles Forum.[7]

After a month of secret rehearsals, in May 2012, she got the chance to showcase some of the dancing talents she trained to do.

The late, great musician Prince (musician) selected her as his Muse & Dancer during his Welcome 2 Australia Tour 2012 with The New Power Generation.[8] Lewis continuing touring with Prince & NPG for his 2012 Welcome to Chicago Tour, appeared with the band on Jimmy Kimmel live, and served as his muse for his closing show at SXSW 2013 in Austin Texas. In the summer of 2013, Damaris traveled to Switzerland to perform with the band at the Iconic Montreux Jazz Festival. She remained his muse and dancer up until his passing in April 2016.

Her love for basketball and the world of fashion motivated her to launch the personal blog, Heels to Hoops.[9] The blog, which she started just before the 2012 NBA Playoffs, featured key NBA game follow-ups, interviews with celebrities and sports figures, and followed her behind the scenes on Australian tour dates.

Lewis starred in the high impact promo and lead-in video that kicked off the 2013 NBA All-Star Game played in Houston, Texas.[10] She went on to co-host NBA Style for TNT and NBA TV with Turner Broadcasting for 3 years. In the summer of 2016 Lewis co-hosted ESPN's City Slam Dunk Competition taking place around the US.

She now runs Golden Lenses Photo. A blog dedicated to travel experiences and photography. One of her passions is getting others to realize that if you take a few steps outside of your comfort zone, you'll learn things you could have never imagined to be real and true.

Since September 2009, Damaris has set aside dedicated volunteer time to help those in need. She works closely with organizations such as Project Sunshine,[11] The Garden of Dreams,[12] a nonprofit organization associated with Madison Square Garden, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Her role with each charity is completely different, allowing her to reach as many children and youth as possible. Serving as chairwomen for their annual prom, Damaris and The Garden of Dreams Foundation have successfully put together 3 proms[13] for a select number of children in the tri-state area since 2014. A newly inducted member into the Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame, Damaris' main focus is to show the youth an example of someone raised in the projects of Brooklyn, New York who always reached to the highest level of her circumstances and never let anyone stop her from knowing her power.
