Daemen College is a liberal arts college[1] in Amherst, New York.[2][3] It is a non-sectarian four-year liberal arts college that also offers graduate programs in business, healthcare and education.
History
Daemen was established in 1947 as Rosary Hill College for women by the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity, founded by Mother Magdalen Damen. The College graduated its first male alumnus in 1968, and changed its name in 1976 to honor the foundress of the order which founded Rosary Hill College. The college became nonsectarian in 1976.
Academics
There are more than thirty undergraduate programs and six graduate programs at the school.
Daemen College has a competency-based core curriculum in which students are expected to master critical thinking and creative problem solving, information literacy, communication skills, affective awareness, moral and ethical discernment, contextual competency, and civic responsibility. Also notable is Daemen's integration of service learning into the Core Curriculum.
Athletics
Daemen College teams, the Wildcats (formerly the Warriors), are part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing as a member of the East Coast Conference. Formerly, the Wildcats were part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the now-defunct American Mideast Conference. Men's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and track & field; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, tennis, track & field, triathlon and volleyball.
Film appearances
Daemen College’s presidential residence was one of several Western New York locations used for filming the movie Marshall (film).
Notable faculty
- James K.Y. Kuo, professor and abstract expressionist painter. His works are in the Albright–Knox Art Gallery and the China Institute.
- Elizabeth Murray (artist), painter, printmaker and draughtsman.Her works are in many major public collections, including those of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art,and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
- Robert Morace, Professor of English, an American writer and author of several guide books on Scottish writers.

- Mary Ann Esposito '64, creator/host of Ciao Italia with Mary Ann Esposito, a cooking program that is the longest-running United States television series of its kind.
- Sr. Maria Pares '66, head coach for the Marquette Golden Eagles women's basketball, Canisius Golden Griffins women's basketball and Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart women's basketball teams.
- Patricia Capstraw Wilkins '67, who conceived the Herd in Buffalo public art project based on CowParade as a fund-raiser for Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
- Catherine A. Carey '67, former Clerk of the New York State Assembly from 1975 to 1984.
- Dr. Ida M. Campagna '67, obstetrician and in-vitro fertilization pioneer. As pregnancy over age 50 became a possibility, Campagna delivered a child to Geraldine Wesolowski, at the time, the oldest woman in the United States to give birth through IVF.
- MaryEllen Elia '70, first female Commissioner of Education of the State of New York.
- Johanna Metz Coleman '70, Town Supervisor of Lancaster, New York 2015-present.
- Al J. Masocco ‘73, VP of Marketing for Epic Records.
- Lynn Marinelli '85, former chairwoman of the County Legislature in Erie County, New York.Currently serves as Western New York Director of Intergovernmental Relations at Empire State Development Corporation.
- Sue Falsone '97, Head of Athletic Training and Sport Performance with United States men's national soccer team. First female Physical Therapist in MLB. Head Athletic Trainer for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

- Phil McAndrew '07, artisit/comic featured Serializer in through his comic Bean.
- Annie Stoll '08, one of the youngest women to receive a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Recording Package along with Mike Brown, Zac Decamp, Brian Grunert for Automatic Music Can Be Fun, performed by Geneseo.
- Monica Kosior '13, professional basketball player for the CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca which competes in Romania's Liga Națională (women's basketball).
- Gerald Beverly '15, professional basketball player for the Canton Charge which competes in the NBA Development League.
- Ayke Agus, classical Violinist and Pianist, known primarily through her longtime collaboration with the violinist Jascha Heifetz.
