DRL Group

Dorman Roberts Limited, marketed as the DRL Group or Roberts Group of Companies, is a transportation and travel management company based in Triton, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

The company traces its roots to 1922 when Samuel G. Roberts, father of Dorman Roberts, purchased a general store, subsequently expanding into wholesale groceries and consumer items, import/export businesses, marine vessels, fish processing, saw mills, and trucking companies. In 1961, the DRL Group employed 1000 people in the province and operated a fleet of 11 ships off the Labrador coast.[1]

The decline of the saltwater fishery saw the company refocus on passenger transportation and travel management, following its takeover of CN Roadcruiser inter-city motor coach bus transportation on the island of Newfoundland in 1996. The company also operates charter buses, particularly for cruise ship companies calling at Newfoundland ports and was previously an inter-city bus operator, charter bus operator and school bus operator in the Maritimes.[1]
