Genera

Cystopteridaceae are a family of ferns in the eupolypods II clade of the order Polypodiales, class Polypodiopsida.[1] They include four genera: Acystopteris, Cystoathyrium, Cystopteris, and Gymnocarpium. Gymnocarpium and Cystopteris have been found to be sister to the remaining Eupolypods II.[2]

Cystopteridaceae are small or medium-sized ferns in forests and crevices.[2] They generally have thin laminae, and small, round, naked sori.

Phylogenic relationships

The following diagram for the eupolypods II, based on Lehtonen, 2011,[3] and Rothfels & al., 2012,[4] shows a likely phylogenic relationship between the Cystopteridaceae and the other families of the eupolypods II clade.
