Cyber Investigation Services (CIS) is an online company focusing on the investigation of defamation and blackmail.

Company overview

Cyber Investigation Services (CIS) was founded by brothers Bruce and Chris Anderson, Ph.D. when they launched the website ReputationDefenseOnline.com, now a subsidiary of CIS.[1] The CEO of the company is Bruce Anderson, who has stated that their business focuses on cases of online defamation, harassment, computer intrusions and hacking that fall in between what local authorities will handle and what the FBI takes interest in.[2]

The firm uses a blend of private investigation, technical, forensic and legal subpoena techniques to determine the source of online attacks.[3] CIS is partners with the Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease law firm, and cofounder Chris Anderson states that the firm helps start about five litigations per week.[4] The founders of the service have been interviewed by the national press as to the dangers of personal online attacks.[2][5] 40% of the company's business is made up of employees, customers, or competitors that set out to destroy a business's online reputation.[6]
