Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland
The Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) were inaugurated in May 2003, and are adjudicated by a panel of all the regular Scottish theatre critics.
The 2009 ceremony took place at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre on June 14. Vanishing Point (Theatre Company) won three awards for Interiors, including Best Production.
The 2008 ceremony took place at Glasgow's Oran Mor on June 15 during the West End Festival. Dundee Rep won four of the ten awards for Peer Gynt including Best Production.
In 2007 the National Theatre of Scotland production of Black Watch, written by Gregory Burke, about the history of the famous Scottish regiment and its notorious deployment at Camp Dogwood in Iraq, won four of the ten awards, including Best Production.
The awards for 2006-2007 were presented at Pitlochry Festival Theatre on June 10.

- Best New Play: Simon Stephens for Pornography presented by Traverse Theatre/Birmingham Rep;
- Best Show for Children and Young People: Liar presented by the TAG Theatre Company and Sounds of Progress;
- Best Actor (Male): Matthew Zajac in The Tailor of Inverness presented by Dogstar Theatre;
- Best Actor (Female): Irene Macdougall as Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? presented by Dundee Rep;
- Best Director: Matthew Lenton for Interiors presented by Vanishing Point (Theatre Company)/Napoli Teatro Festival Italia/Mercadante Teatro Stabile di Napoli/Traverse Theatre in association with Lyric Hammersmith and Tron Theatre;
- Best Design: Alex Lowde (set) and Chris Davey (lighting) for Beauty and the Beast presented by Dundee Rep;
- Best Use of Music and Sound: Seylan Baxter, Lillias Kinsman-Blake and Rachel Newton for The Lasses, O presented by Rowan Tree Theatre;
- Best Ensemble: Interiors presented by Vanishing Point (Theatre Company)/Napoli Teatro Festival Italia/Mercadante Teatro Stabile di Napoli/Traverse Theatre in association with Lyric Hammersmith and Tron Theatree;
- Best Technical Presentation: Slick presented by Vox Motus/Tron Theatre;
- Best Production: Interiors presented by Vanishing Point (Theatre Company)/Napoli Teatro Festival Italia/Mercadante Teatro Stabile di Napoli/Traverse Theatre in association with Lyric Hammersmith and Tron Theatre;

- Best New Play: Carthage Must Be Destroyed by Alan Wilkins at the Traverse Theatre;
- Best Show for Children and Young People: The Emperor's New Kilt presented by Wee Stories Theatre /National Theatre of Scotland;
- Best Actor (Male): Keith Fleming and Gerry Mulgrew as Peer Gynt in Peer Gynt presented by Dundee Rep/National Theatre of Scotland;
- Best Actor (Female): Amy Manson as The Stepdaughter in Six Characters in Search of an Author presented by the Royal Lyceum Theatre/the Citizens Theatre/National Theatre of Scotland;
- Best Director: Dominic Hill for Peer Gynt presented by Dundee Rep/National Theatre of Scotland;
- Best Design: Naomi Wilkinson for Peer Gynt presented by Dundee Rep/National Theatre of Scotland;
- Best Use of Music and Sound: Alasdair Macrae for Subway presented by Vanishing Point ;
- Best Ensemble: The Wall presented by Borderline Theatre ;

- Best Actor (Female): Meg Fraser for Martha in Tom Fool at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre ;
- Best Director: John Tiffany for Black Watch presented by the National Theatre of Scotland;
- Best Design: Naomi Wilkinson (set) and Bruno Poet (lights) for A Midsummer Night's Dream, at Dundee Rep ;
- Best Use of Music: Robert Pettigrew and the company for Man of La Mancha at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh ;
