The Times of India said that the mission was "considered one of the top ten missions in the world".[4] On August 30, 2011, the consulate moved into a new standalone facility at 4300 Scotland. The Government of India had purchased the 24,829-square-foot (2,306.7 m2) property, which had a built-up area that had 18,500 square feet (1,720 m2) of space.[2] The Consulate-General of India, Atlanta announced that it planned to begin its services on October 1, 2012. This changed the service area of the Houston consulate.[1]
