Communist Party of Suriname

The Communist Party of Suriname (Dutch: Kommunistische Partij van Suriname) was a communist party in Suriname during the 1980s. It was formally founded in June 1981 by Bram Behr. The party was Hoxhaist and pro-Soviet in its political positions.

Although not formally organised until 1981, the Surinamese communists ran candidates in the 1977 Surinamese election under the label "Democratic People's Front". No member of the party was ever elected to political office in Suriname. After the Cold War ended, the party died out.
