Claybourne Elder (born April 21 in Utah) is an American actor, singer, and writer who is best known for his work on television and on Broadway. He received rave reviews[1] and was nominated for a 2012 Drama Desk Award[2] for "Outstanding Leading Actor in A Play" for originating the role of "Ollie Olson" in One Arm directed by Moisés Kaufman. He then went on to appear on The Carrie Diaries.[3] He also appeared on the Cast recordings and originated the roles of "Buck Barrow" in Bonnie and Clyde,[4] as "Hollis Bessemer" in Stephen Sondheim's Road Show,[5] as "Michael Victor"[6] in Venice[7] at the Public Theatre. He also recently appeared as "Joseph Taylor Jr." in the Classic Stage Company revival of Allegro[8] and George in the critically acclaimed Sunday in the Park with George at Signature Theatre.[9] Claybourne is openly gay.[10]
