Chloris is a genus which contains the greenfinches. These were formerly grouped in the genus Carduelis.[1]
The genus name is from Ancient Greek khloris, the European greenfinch, from khloros, "green".[2]
The name Chloris was also previously used for the bird genus Parula.
Species
There are five species in the genus:[3]
- Black-headed greenfinch (Chloris ambigua)
- European greenfinch (Chloris chloris)
- Grey-capped greenfinch (Chloris sinica)
- Vietnamese greenfinch (Chloris monguilloti)
- Yellow-breasted greenfinch (Chloris spinoides)
