The William Sutton Homes Chilterns Junior Rugby League is a winter junior rugby league competition for clubs in the South of England and the South Midlands.

The competition takes its name from the Chiltern Hills. The season runs from October to February. Competition takes place at under-12 and under-14 age groups.

History

In 2006, the Dacorum Junior League began as a project ran by the Hertfordshire Rugby League, with Dacorum Community Safety Partnership with the aim of channelling young people’s energy into sport as an alternative to crime and anti-social behaviour. Four of Hemel Stags' cluster teams (Bennets End Bulldogs, Adeyfield Dragons, Grovehill Tigers, Highfield Hawks) took part at under-13s level.

The success of the project meant that in 2007 St Albans Centurions joined the league and the project was increased to include new teams (Hatfield Comets, New Green Gladiators and Cottonmill Crusaders) and with a joint Aylesbury / Northampton Casuals team entering the league it was renamed The Chilterns Junior Rugby League. Chilterns being chosen rather than Hertfordshire, because Aylesbury is in Buckinghamshire. Towards the end of the season player numbers from Aylesbury diminished and Northampton took over the fixtures in their own right.
