Cherlopalle is located on the Bangalore-Kadapa highway, in Chittoor District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, 40 km from Madanapalle and 160 km from Bangalore.The temple near daddalavaripalli is located 1 km from the bus stop.

The deity Reddemma

Cherlopalle is known for famous deity "Reddemma". Mostly childless devotees visit Reddemma. It is customary to prefix/suffix names of newborns with Reddi or use the deity's name ("Reddemma" for girls and "Reddeppa" for boys).

While Reddemma, a devotee/messenger, was in the fields, a soldier chased her. She ran to the middle of the hill and prayed for Bhoodevi (Goddess of earth) to save her. A big rock broke apart paving the way for her and she was saved. The temple was built there. Most devotees visit on Sunday, and tonsure their head to show their respect. Childless devotees tie a stone to trees in front of the temple and pray for children.

Population

In the village of Diguva thotlivaripalli, there is a lot of castes including thotli's families. The majority are dependent on agriculture,mostly tomato preferred. Telugu is the Local Language here. Total population of Cherlopalle is 3500 .Males are 1738 and Females are 1,762 living in 899 Houses. Total area of Cherlopalle is 2413 hectares.

Education

Elementary and high schools educate the youth. Teachers such as Late Sri L Butchi Naidu (Hindi) Late Sri Prabhakar Reddy (Maths), Late Sri Bhaskar Naidu (science), Reddeppa Naidu (head master), Chinnapa Reddy (Maths) , Sidda Reddy( P.E.T), Sri Sathyanarayana Sharma (Telugu), Shanthamma, Sri Sudhakar Reddy (social) Late Sri T Subbarama Naidu Sri B.V. Reddy draw respect from students for their services. Most of their students are in the teaching profession some are Doctors, Engineers, and some others into IT(India and Abrade).

Temples

Sri Rama Temple was recently built on the way to Reddemma Konda in the Daddalavaripalli Village. Anjaneyaswamy temple is another local temple located near by Surappagari palle. People take a dip in the adjoining pond during Sivaratri and offer puja to Lord Anjaneya.
