Charles De Schutter

Charles and his Audio Kitchen

Charles De Schutter was born in Brussels in December 1975. He is a Belgian musical producer and sound engineer.

Biography

He studied at St Michel College and then at the sound engineering school « IAD » (1995 to 1998). In the meantime, from the age of 8, he learned to play classical piano and from the age of 11, the electric guitar. He also studied music theory for 8 years. By the time he was 14, he already was a familiar face in local rock bands where he performed as a guitar player.

He started sound engineering work when he was 16 by recording and mixing demos as well as mixing small live acts. During his studies at IAD he worked for different PA companies and quickly started touring with Belgian and French bands such as Matthieu Chedid -M-, Superbus, Ozark Henry, Ghinzu, Kyo, Groove Cartel, Pleymo, Daran, Thierry Amiel, Emma Daumas etc.

For the last decade he has been touring all over the world from Quatro clubs tour in Japan to Campus tour in America including French « Zenith/Bercy » tour, Forest National and great festivals (Summersonic, Eurockéennes, Vieilles Charrues, Werchter, Pukkelpop, Sziget, Pink pop, Paleo etc.)

As a musical director he developed particular skills in helping artists to transfer the qualities and the production of their album to a great live act. Even when he was really busy with concerts he kept doing studio work everytime he came back to Belgium. He worked in different studios like ICP, Caraïbes, Ferbert until he co-founded Rec’N Roll studios in 2006.

In February 2014 he won a "Victoire de la Musique" in France for the best live act with -M-.[1]
