Chakla (administrative division)

Chakla (Persian: چکله) was a district level administrative division in India during Mughal period.[1] The chakla system was in practice at least at Bengal[1] and Awadh[2] provinces. Chakla was the major administrative division in a province, subah. It was further subdivided into Parganas; each Pargana was consisting of several villages.[2]
