History

Cbazaar, previously known as Chennaibazaar.com,[2] started their operations in 1998 as an online gifting solution in India and later forayed into apparel for women, men, and children. Chennai Bazaar was rechristened as Cbazaar in the year 2005. The brand gained popularity with time and diversified its product range from wedding sarees, salwar kameez, and ghagra choli to ethnic wear for men and children, as well as fashion accessories.[3] Cbazaar mainly sells their products to people of South Asian and Indian origin settled outside India. The products are delivered to more than 150 countries.[4]

In May 2012, Inventus Capital Partners and Ojas Venture Partners invested $3.5 million in Cbazaar. At present, the online shopping portal houses one of the largest range of Indian couture, with more than 15,000 items. On an average, over 100 designs are added every day.[5] [6]

In 2013, Cbazaar introduced Bollywood-inspired collections, and became the official online shopping partner of movies such as Aiyyaa[7] Son of Sardaar',[8] Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns.[9] In 2015 Cbazaar partnered with popular Bollywood movies like Dolly Ki Doli, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and Dilwale and launched movie inspired collections on their website. It also offers a collection inspired by Bengali films. Cbazaar also sells online products of Indian designers and brands like Ritu Kumar and Pothys.
