Caucasus University is a privately held university in Georgia, Caucasus.

History

Caucasus University was established in 2004 on the foundation of Caucasus School of Business which was established during the transitional period of the country in 1998 in partnership with Georgia State University (Atlanta, USA).[1] This was when Georgia was making the first attempts to move from a planned to free market economy.

Caucasus University has evolved and is now one of the most prominent higher education institutions in Georgia and the South Caucasus region.

Schools and programs

Caucasus University currently consists of eight schools: the School of Business, the School of Law, the School of Media, the School of Technology, the School of Governance, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Tourism and the School of Healthcare and offers degree and certificate programs.

Caucasus School of Business (CSB)

Its main purpose is to offer BBA, MBA, MsC in Management and PhD programs that satisfy international standards.

CSB is an active member of Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN). Recent CEEMAN International Quality accreditation has made CSB the first educational institution to be granted such accreditation in the South Caucasus Region. CEEMAN International Quality accreditation is closely in line with the European EQUIS requirements and provides a quality improvement system and a benchmarking tool for business schools in the Central and East European region.

Bachelor of Business Administration

The B.A. program has the following specializations: Finance, Accounting, Marketing Management, Marketing Research and Analysis in partnership with ACT, Management, International Business.

Dual Bachelor of Business Administration/Master of Business Administration

The Dual BBA degree is a joint program of CSB and Robinson College of Business. The four-year program consists of two years at CSB (Tbilisi, Georgia), followed by two years at the Robinson College of Business (USA). The program is conducted in English. Concentration of this program are Management, Marketing, Finance, and International Business.

Master of Business Administration

Areas of specialization include Finance, Marketing, and Management.

Dual Master of Business Administration

The Dual MBA Program is a joint venture between Grenoble Graduate School of Business and Caucasus School of Business. Grenoble is accredited by all three major business school accreditation services — the AMBA (Association of MBAs), EQUIS (European Foundation for Management Development) and AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Upon completion of the program students will be awarded the Master of Business Administration degree from GGSB and the International Executive Master of Business Administration degree from CSB. There are three specialized tracks: Global Management, Management Consulting, and Business Intelligence.

Doctoral

CSB offers a Ph.D program with Georgia State University (USA). The program is offered in English with specializations in finance, Marketing, and Management. Robinson College of Business provides academic and administrative support for the program through workshops, mentoring, and experiential learning. The program is supported by Eurasia Foundation and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of USA.

CSB offers In-Service Training courses for organizations that are interested in training their staff in different spheres of business.

Caucasus School of Law (CSL)

Caucasus School of Law has been functioning since September 2005. The school curriculum, modules, syllabi and grading system coincide with the requirements established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The academic calendar of CSL is divided into two semesters.

CSL has a quality assurance department by which students’ and professors’ ratings are defined. The education process is frequently monitored by foreign experts.

CSL’s motto is “The law is strict, but it is the law” (Dura Lex, Sed Lex).

The students expand their knowledge through master classes, meetings and dialogues. The second major priority of CSL is the scientific and research activities of students and professors. The students’ self-governing organization, CSL-U, became a member of the European Students’ Family (ESIB).

Caucasus School of Law offers LL.B, Master and Doctoral programs.

Master of Laws

The advanced degree program allows specialization in a particular area of law. CSL is the first LL.M. program in Georgia. CSL’s Master program specializations are Private (Business) Law, Public Law, Criminal Law and International Law.

Caucasus School of Media (CSM)

Caucasus School of Media, established in 2007, is a novelty in higher education in Georgia. The school offers bachelor’s and master’s programs employing a western-style education service package of modern media technologies.

Bachelor of Journalism

The Bachelor’s program (SS.B) of journalism of the Caucasus Media School consists of 10 subjects: 5 modules of press, 5 modules of TV-radio journalism, 5 modules of international journalism, 7 subjects of basic university disciplines. Sequence, contextual and quantitative equality is ensured. By material integrity academic intensity is kept optimal.

Master of Journalism

The Master’s program (SS.M) of the Caucasus Media School (CSM) is targeted for bachelor's alumni and specialists who were issued diplomas in journalism in Law; International Relations; Information Technologies; Banking; Business Management and Administration; Humanitarian Sciences; Social-Political Sciences. The Master’s program incorporates areas of the international, broadcasting and print media; research trends of media management, media law and media technologies. Normal duration of the Master’s program is 2–5 years.

Caucasus School of Technology (CST)

Caucasus School of Technology (CST) was established in 2008.

CST offers undergraduate program in Computer Technology.

CST offers graduate program in Information Systems. The program has been established based on the model curriculum of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Association for Information Systems (AIS), which reflects the demands of the leading organizations toward information systems specialists.

In addition, the school offers certificate courses.
