Catalina "Katty" López Samán also known by her married name Catalina Focil-Saman (born February 27, 1983 in Guayaquil) is an Ecuadorian beauty pageant contestant and certified make-up artist who won Miss Ecuador 2006. She competed in the third season of the Univision reality series Nuestra Belleza Latina in the United States and came in third place.

Early life

Her mother died eight months after her birth, leaving her to be raised by her uncle Raul and aunt María Luisa. López considers them her parents and says, "they are the motivation of my life and the cornerstone of my philosophy".[1] She has four siblings: Raúl, Luigi, Mariuxi and Juanito.[1]

Miss World Cup 2006

López represented her country in Miss World Cup 2006 in Germany where she placed as 2nd runner-up.[2]

Miss Ecuador 2006

López represented her home province of Guayas in the Miss Ecuador 2006 pageant and won the title on March 16, 2006.[1]

Nuestra Belleza Latina 2009

López auditioned in Los Angeles for the Nuestra Belleza Latina series and was among the twelve to participate in the Miami-based competition. She finished second runner-up.[3]

Acting

She played Trinitia in the romantic comedy film From Prada to Nada.

Catalina Focil-Saman traded her crown for make up brushes and become a famous certified make up artist who works with recognized brands and famous designers in Los Angeles California [4]
