Carol Monaghan (born 2 August 1972) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow North West since the general election in May 2015.[1] She is the SNP Public Services and Education spokesperson in the House of Commons.

Monaghan studied at Strathclyde University, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Laser Physics and Optoelectronics in 1993.[2]

She had formerly been a physics teacher and head of science at Hyndland Secondary School but had given this up to concentrate on campaigning ahead of the election.[3][4]

Monaghan is married to Glasgow City SNP councillor and physics teacher Feargal Dalton, and they have a son and two daughters.[3][5]
