Phalanx of Gloom

The Phalanax of Gloom first appeared in The Tick Massive Summer Double Spectacle #1 and 2, 2000. They are enemies of the Tick. They are a fairly large super villain team.

Fictional team biography

Multi-millionaire formed this group to get rid of all the City's superheroes. But they were stopped by the Tick and Arthur's group. They later faked fights for them, but this turned out to be a trick (as the Tick predicted), so they could steal a bank with a cruise ship.

Members

The Phalanax of Gloom's villains include:

• Thrakkorzog - He is a slimey alien that is the arch-enemy of the Mighty Agrippa, Roman God of the Aqueduct. He has superhuman (or at least above normal) strength. He was kicked out of the team for eating one of his own team mates.
• Candyman- He is a villain that has a gumball machine-like costume. He uses candy-theme weapons (like "Bomb Bombs") He is a Mysterio parody. He has a gum ball machine-like head and mouth (similar to Chairface Chippendale's chair-like head).
• Lumber Jane - She is the female counterpart of the Chainsaw Vigilante. She has a costume that is the same of her counterpart expect for lip stick on her mask and her pig tail. Unlike her male counterpart, she is a real super villain, but is not as feared as him.
• The Underwater - He is a Namor the Sub-Mariner parody. He can breathe underwater, but shows no other powers. He always dresses like he's going diving into a pool.
• Praying Mantis- She is a chubby martial artist, who is said to eat men (hence her name).
• The Red Scare - He has superhuman strength and endurance. He was one of the Tick's earliest foes. He also works for Villainy Inc. He is not really a former communist agent as the name implies (he is Scottish). He physically resembles the Tick.
• Fuzzy Person - His or her gender is unknown. It can inflate itself over three times its normal size. Most of his foes and even think this power is more funny than scary. He was first a member of the Evileers.
• Roach - She is a "tough girl" with superhuman strength.
• Toy de Force- He was toy-themed mad scientist (like Toyman). He fought with Thrakkorzog over if robots or genetic clones are better. This caused Thrakkorzog to eat him. The team found this out when Thrakkorzog burped his glasses.

Trivia

• The Phalanx of Gloom are possibly a parody of the Secret Society of Super Villains.
• They are the City's first super villain team.
